Dream diary

This morning I woke up from a dream. I can’t remember what exactly was going on but in the dream I was staying in a sort of camper-house - similar to the one in the tv show Maid. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be in Iceland, although, I’m not sure if we even have these types of housing here.

In the dream there was a point where I went to sleep, or to bed, as the dream ended when I was waking up in the dream, before I actually woke up in reality.

What happened in the final moments of the dream was an earthquake. Up until that point I remember I had been thinking, the next one will be big! As in real life, I can often hear, or feel, when the earthquakes are coming. It’s like I’m sensitive to the energy shifting ahead of the actual shaking. In the dream I felt I sensed a big earthquake coming.

[Side note: volcanic activity is probably causing a multitude of earthquakes in the capital area in Iceland in the past days. This is not just me obsessing about earthquakes out of the blue)

This happened a little bit differently than in real life, where I often sense them only a few seconds - or fractions of seconds - before I feel them. It has happened though that I lie in bed and I manage to tell Svavar, yep, there’s an earthquake, before it hits. In the dream I had the feeling for a much longer time.

When the earthquake in the dream hit, it was as if the building which I was in, this camper-type-home, was going to fall on top of me. In the dream I opened my eyes and could see the walls moving. Like a house of cards with walls caving in. They went back and forth like straw in the wind - without braking - and I felt like the bed was rocking like a boat.

That’s when I woke up to reality. I was not facing the same direction as I was in the dream. The earthquakes I’ve been feeling at home come from one direction, if I lie on my back they start from the left side and pass on to the right. The layout of the bed is east-west and the volcanic area where the quakes origin from is to the south (and pass south-north through my house). In the dream it’s as if I was also lying south-north.

Because of that, the way I felt the movement in the dream - which felt extremely real - was not the same way it would’ve happened in reality.

After I woke up I was so sure there had been a huge earthquake, but looking over at Svavar he was not even slightly awake. I didn’t have my phone by my side to check the time, so I’m unsure when exactly this was. When I finally got online around 9 am I went online to check the earthquake log. Sure enough there were a few earthquakes logged this morning, some big enough to trigger this dream. The biggest one was at 7 am, but I doubt I had been awake for 2 hours before looking at the phone. There was a possible one just before 9 but it ddin’t seem big enough for what I felt.

Maybe it was just a very realistic dream. I guess I’ll never know.
